Mark leads Second Chance, a Baltimore social enterprise that deconstructs buildings, salvages architectural materials, and reinvests the proceeds into paid job training and placement for people who need a fresh start. He built the organization around a triple-bottom-line mission to give people, products, and the planet a second chance.
He launched Second Chance in 2001, inspired by his own hunt for historic parts during a home renovation and the lack of a one-stop source for quality reuse. That experience became the blueprint for a nonprofit that now anchors reuse, retail, and workforce development in the region.
Under his leadership, Second Chance has trained deconstruction cohorts with strong completion and placement results and has kept millions of pounds of materials out of landfills. Foster’s vision is also visible in the organization’s Concept House, which demonstrates how reclaimed materials and skilled crews can create a modern, livable home. He remains Second Chance’s chief ambassador and strategist.
As Chief Operating Officer, Clayton oversees daily operations and aligns deconstruction, retail, and workforce programs to scale impact and efficiency. With over 30 years of leadership in sales, operations, and business development—including key roles at McCormick & Company and Fair Trade USA—he brings enterprise rigor and mission focus to Second Chance. In his spare time, he sails the seven seas.
As Business Development Manager, Lottie builds partnerships, opens new opportunities, and guides relationships with Second Chance. She brings 25+ years in the construction and trucking industries, speaking the language of vendors and contractors and keeping projects moving. Away from work, she treasures time with her four grandchildren and rarely misses an Ohio State football game. She also volunteers with dog rescue organizations, and every dog she’s owned has been a rescue.
As Donations Manager, Missy leads intake from first call to scheduled pickup, coordinating crews and ensuring high-quality items reach the sales floor quickly. She started in the Second Chance Receiving department, spending six years as Assistant Pricing Manager before earning her promotion. Outside of work, she’s an avid TV watcher who can quote favorites on demand. At home she’s usually hanging with family and her pitbull, King.
As Pledge Relationship Manager, Thomas stewards donor commitments from first conversation to fulfilled pledge, tracking details and keeping communication clear and timely. He brings six years at a logistics company and a degree in accounting, pairing operational know-how with careful recordkeeping. Outside of work, he plays guitar and sings with his band, the Everlasting Gobstoppers.
As Deconstruction Sales Manager, Ryan helps property owners and contractors understand deconstruction options, scopes projects, and turns inquiries into signed agreements. He brings 15 years in digital media sales and project management, building strong pipelines, writing clear proposals, and keeping timelines on track. Outside of work, he loves to travel and has enjoyed time throughout Europe. When he isn’t traveling, he’s reading and always has a new title queued up.
As Director of Asset Management and Safety, Peter oversees inventory, fleet, facilities, and compliance, building systems that keep people and property protected. He brings 25 years in the casino industry and more than five years in education, pairing operational discipline with a trainer’s eye for clear processes and accountability. He has also been an athlete and a sporting official.
As Director of Retail Operations, Frank leads floor strategy, pricing, merchandising, and customer experience while coaching teams to hit sales and service goals. He brings 25 years as a U.S. Marine, five years with Savers and 2nd Ave Thrift, and two years as a Goodwill regional manager to build disciplined, mission-aligned operations. Off the clock, he’s an avid sports fan with a soft spot for basketball and football. If there’s a big game on, he’s tracking the score and dissecting plays.
